Eden’s Trees

Using Bullinger’s King James Version Companion bible (Kregel)

Study of Adam, Eve, and the Trees of Eden’s Garden

This study there will provide insightful review of what really happened among the beings found in the garden, and the significance for today and our future.

Before going into the Genesis scripture, it is important to realize that the creation story is referring to the rejuvenation of the Earth for this second earth age. If you are not familiar with the 3 Earth ages of the Bible scriptures, then please see the study at this link:
https://www.ourgoodshepherd.org/3-earth-ages/

The Earth is being re-established with life of all kinds, including men and women. The creation of Eden’s Garden and the “trees” of this garden are taught starting at Genesis [1:3]. The study will skip forward to the scriptures that are involving the “trees” of the garden.
To learn about some of the creation aspects of the Genesis scriptures, you can find such a study at this link:

Numbers [4:26] – “… door of the gate of the courtyard …”,
  Leviticus [17:5] – “… door of the tabernacle of the … “,
Ezekiel [8:3] – “… Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that …”.

 Strong’s G2374 – “thura” – “portal or entrance”

II Peter [3:8] “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day
is the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Genesis [2:2] “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had
made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had
made.”

Genesis [2:5] “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and
every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it
to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.”

[ed: Here the scripture says that there was no man to cultivate or to otherwise care for the land. But certain in Genesis [1: 26] the Bible is quite clear that men and women were definitely created in the 6th “day”, before the restful 7th “day” of the Earth’s rejuvenation in this second Earth age.
So we need to understand who this other man for the “till” is. ]

Genesis [2:7] “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living
soul.”

[ed: This word “man” in the above verse is found in the Hebrew scripture as “eth-ha-adham“, and this man will become the first Patriarch of the natural heritage eventually leading to the birth of Jesus Christ. This lineage is documented in Matthew [1:1], and Luke [3:23]. These lists can also be found in the Companion Bible appendix #99, which can be read directly by the page at this link:
https://levendwater.org/companion/append99.html

For Adam was formed by God, and Christ as a man, was also formed by God, though he was born through his mother Mary just like all of us.]

Genesis [2:8] “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and
there He put the man whom He had formed.”

[ed: So Adam will be located at Eden (meaning is “pleasure”, “delight”) and the 8th “day” man will now have a particular mate, and will be provided with a certain group of farming animals, not animals from the rest creation. Note how these animals are created after Adam is formed, but before his mate (Eve), is also formed, not by God directly, but from Adam’s own DNA. ]

Genesis [2:9] “And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every
tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also
in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”

[ed: This documents that both Christ and Satan are in the Garden. Adam is not yet in the Garden. Ezekiel [31:1-18] documents that the tree of Knowledge of good and evil is satan. The Tree of Life is Christ.

Ezekiel [31:9] “I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so
that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.”

Ezekiel [31:18] “To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness
among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees
of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of
the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword; This is Pharaoh
and all his multitude, saith the Lord God.”

[ed: Really recommend reading the entire Ezekiel chapter 31 to see how satan is called out by God and how his sins have caused his fall into the dust.]

Genesis [2:10] “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and
from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.”

Genesis [2:11] “The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth
the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;”

Genesis [2:13] “And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it
that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.”

Genesis [2:14] “And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it
which goes toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is
Euphrates.”

[ed: So these 4 rivers are connected to a single source river that flowed Eastward. Of course water only flows downhill, so one could assume that the source was uphill somewhere, and that the rivers would continue to flow downhill to the final destinations.]

Genesis [2:15] “And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the
garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.)”

Genesis [2:16] “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “of every
tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:”

Genesis [2:17] “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die.”

[ed: So Adam is told directly by God to not eat of that tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” His wife mate (Eve) is not yet formed.]

Genesis [2:18] “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should
be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”

[ed: A wife mate will be made, but not yet.]

Genesis [2:19] “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of
the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see
what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living
creature, that was the name thereof.”

[ed: Note that the birds are particularly “fowl” not just any or all birds. Also note that the animals are of the “field”, not for the Earth’s wildernesses. No fish are brought about either for they are not for the agriculture purpose.]

Genesis [2:21] “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead
thereof;”

[ed: The word “rib” is from the Hebrew word “tsela” #H6763, and #H6760 – meaning “to curve“. Clearly God had need to put Adam asleep for the extraction of material from his body.]

Genesis [2:22] “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man,
made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.”

[ed: The wife is being brought towards the man Adam, she was formed somewhere else.]

Genesis [2:24] “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother,
and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

[ed: Adam and his wife were one flesh literally – the very same DNA and together they matched perfectly, one male and one female. They were in perfect harmony with God and the Garden was without anything to offend. They just needed to stay away from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.]

Genesis [3:1] “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And He said unto the woman,
“Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Genesis [3:2] “And the woman said unto the serpent, “We may eat of the
fruit of the trees of the garden:”

Genesis [3:3] “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it,
lest ye die’.”

[ed: Satan the serpent is asking the woman of the Garden, a question about God’s command. Compare this to the original command from God in verse [2:16-17].]

per God:
[2:16] “of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:”
[2:17] “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

per satan:
[3:1] “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

per woman (Eve):
[3:2] “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:”
[3:3] “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,
God has said, “Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die’.”

[ed: Note that God’s words do not refer to any “fruit”. The woman is bringing up the word “fruit” into the dialog with the serpent, satan.

The general Hebrew word for “trees” is (#H6086, “ʻêts – “a tree” ) from
#H6095 ” ʻâtsâh” – ” to fasten that {is} to close the eyes ),.

The Hebrew word for “trees” in Eden’s Garden use the word from #H6095 – “ʻâtsâh”, not #H6086.

The Hebrew word in verse [3:3] is (#H6096; “Atseh” – “the spine, (as giving firmness to the body):-backbone.” from #H6095) .

The Hebrew word used for “tree” (of the knowledge of good and evil) in verse [2:17] and also for the “tree” (Tree of Life) in verse [3:22];
is the same as the Hebrew word for “fruit” in verses [3:2] and [3:3] ;
(#H4480, “min” – “a part of; hence ({prepositionally}) from or
out of in many senses”) from,
(#H4482, “mên” – ” a part; hence a musical chord (as parted into
strings) “).

So with the fruit of this tree in verses [3:2] & [3:3], this would indicate children by mating with that “tree”.]

[ed: When the woman (Eve) replies back to the serpent satan in verse [3:3] she uses the word “touch”. #H5060 – “touch”, ” nâgaʻ”, ” to {touch} that {is} lay the hand upon (for any purpose; {euphemistically} to lie with a woman); “].

Genesis [3:4] “And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely
die:”

Genesis [3:5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your
eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

[ed: Satan the serpent is telling the woman that she will be able to become god-like by her own initiative of “eating” the fruit of his “tree”, that she will become wiser and find greater understanding by disobeying the one single command that God gave to Adam and his wife to obey. From Adam and Eve will come the generations and bloodline for the Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ. But satan wants to interrupt that idea]

Genesis [3:6] “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food,
and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and the tree to be desired to make
one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto
her husband with her; and he did eat.”

[ed: So the woman looses her virginity to satan, and that encounter will produce “fruit”.
The Hebrew word for “food” in verse [3:6] is H#3978 – ” maʼăkâl” – “an eatable (including {provender} flesh and fruit) “, from #H398 ” ʼâkal” – “to eat (literally or figuratively)”.

#H398 is also the Hebrew word for “eat” throughout all of Genesis.]

Genesis [3:7] “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew
that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made
themselves aprons.”

Genesis [3:8] And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the
garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves
from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.”

Genesis [3:9] “And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him,
“Where art thou?”

Genesis [3:10] “And he said, “I heard Thy voice in the garden and I was
afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

[ed: Note that Adam had just one command (law) to obey and here he is hiding which shows that he knew that he was wrong in his actions. He will later try to shift blame of his actions to both his wife and also to God for giving him a wife.]

Genesis [3:11] “And He said, “Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast
thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest
not eat?”

Genesis [3:12] “And the man said, “The woman whom thou gavest to be
with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.”

[ed: Adam says to YHVH that “you” gave me this wife, after being confronted about his own personal wrong doings.
Although satan made contact with Eve and tricked her with his words to laying with him and bearing a child (fruit), God told Adam directly to avoid satan period. This child would become a son of satan, and he will be called “Cain’ meaning is”possession”.]

Genesis [3:13] “And the Lord God said unto the woman, “What is this that
thou hast done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I
did eat.”

[ed: The woman (still not named yet by Adam) has been seduced completely, and she says that she did “eat”.
The Hebrew word for “beguiled” is (#H5377 – “nâshâʼ – “to lead {astray} that {is} (mentally) to {delude} or (morally) to seduce “.]

Genesis [3:14] “And the Lord God said unto the serpent, “Because thou
hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of
the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the
days of thy life:”

[ed: Notice that God does not even ask the serpent was he was doing, and the serpent satan is the first one to be accursed by God for his actions.]

Genesis [3:15] “And I [God] will put enmity between thee [Satan] and the
woman [Eve], and between thy seed [the Kenites] and her Seed [Jesus
Christ]; It [Christ] shall bruise thy [Satan’s] head, and thou [Satan] shalt
bruise His [Christ’s] heel.”

[ed: Hebrew word for “seed” is (#H2233 – ” zirmah”, –
“Posterity, carnally, child, fruitful”.]

[ed: There is a curse for satan to known as the lowest of all created souls, humiliatingly lower any animal in the world. He is so low, he will “crawl through the dust”.
Eve’s children (seed) and satan’s children (seed) will not get along very well, for there is enmity there. Children of satan will strive to interfere in the plan of salvation to be offered by Christ’s perfect life, and his own sacrificed death to cover all sins for those who believe, those who choose Jesus as their Savior.

Genesis [3:16] “Unto the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply thy
sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;
and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

[ed: The woman laying with satan and bearing his fruit (child) induces a punishment from God that will endure pain though childbirth. She will bear this kind of pain because of the nature of the “touch” she had, not from eating an apple or any regular tree fruit.]

Genesis [3:17] “And unto Adam He said, “Because thou hast hearkened
unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I
commanded thee, saying, ‘Thou shalt not eat of it:’ cursed is the ground
for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of of thy life;”

Genesis [3:19] “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou
return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art,
and unto dust shalt thou return.”

[ed: Adam’s curse is that the ground will not provide without hardship of sweat and strife. He was to care for the whole garden and now he is about to be kicked out and to lose the privilege of caring and protecting it. He is told that he will experience death just as he was told. He will die at the age of 930 years, well short of the 1000 years of a day in the Lord’s mind.]

Genesis [3:20] “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was
the mother of all living.”

[ed: Eve gets here name from Adam not God, although she was his wife all along. The term “mother of all living” is not referring to those already existing from Genesis 1’s sixth day, or even of the 8th day, but for all who will eventually be able to claim (in the future) the salvation from Christ that will provide, to those who believe, with promise of eternal life.]

Genesis [3:21] “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make
coats of skins, and clothed them.”

[ed: Adam and Eve tried to cover their sin with fig leaves, but that will not work. Instead God makes a sacrifice of an animal’s life for their skins to cover them both. The sacrifice made is a temporary “cover” only until Christ’s sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.

Genesis [3:24] “So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the
garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every
way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

[ed: So Adam and Eve are forced out of the garden and there are guards to prevent them from reentering there at the Eastern gate of the garden. Notice that the garden is an enclosed area (#H1588) and that there is only 1 entry/door/gate into the garden.

Cain and Abel’s Births …

Genesis 4:1 “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare
Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.”

Genesis 4:2 “And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper
of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.”

[ed: The Hebrew word for “again” (#H3254 “Yacaph” – “to continue,
conceive again, to continue to do the same thing.”.
Eve is having paternal twins from 2 different fathers – satan fathering Cain and Adam fathering Abel. The fertilization of the 2 separate eggs by these fathers must have been close in time.]

Genesis 4:3 “And in Process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of
the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.”

Genesis 4:4 “And Abel he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of
the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:”

Genesis 4:5 “But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And
Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”

Genesis 4:6 “And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is
thy countenance fallen?

Genesis 4:7 “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou
doest not well sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and
thou shalt rule over him.”

Genesis 4:8 “And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass,
when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother,
and slew him.”

Genesis 4:9 “And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?”
And he said, “I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?”

[ed: Cain and Able have reached an age where it is appropriate and expected that they bring forth an offering to the Lord God. They are both bring forth, at a common time and to a common place where God will see their offerings. Cain arrives with a offering that is not the best (firstlings) and God is not pleased by his effort, while Abel’s is accepted. Cain feels personally rejected and is going to bring that anger against an innocent person, his own half-brother. To Cain, murder is better and easier than accepting his own wrongs and getting them corrected from within himself. Cain tells a blatant lie to God, that he does not know where Abel is.]

[ed: Strong’s Hebrew dictionary classifies these Kenites under #7014 and #7017.
#7014 states: “Qayin, kah’-yin; the same as 7013 (with the play upon the affinity to 7069); Kajin, the name of the first child, also of a place in Palestine, and of an Oriental tribe: Cain, Kenites.”]
#7017; “Qiyniy (I Chronicles 2:55), kee-nee’; patron. from 7014, a Kenite or member of the tribe of Kajin: Kenite.”

Genesis [4:26] “And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he
called his name Enos; Then began men to call upon the name of the
Lord.”

[ed: The Massorectic text actually states this “they begin profanely to call upon the name of the Lord.”, that is to call YHVH’s names when doing something contrary to God, or to call some fake god or idol and use God’s name for it.
Seth
Strong’s H8352, “Shêth” – “substituted”;
     from H7896,”shîyth” – “to place”. ]

[ed: So here we see that Adam and Eve will have a third son named as “Seth” and he will become the next Patriarch in the natural lineage of Christ’s bloodline. Geneis chapter 5 details the bloodline from Adam, though Seth through Noah. Note that Cain’s list of generations does NOT include Adam as his father, but yet Seth’s father (Adam) is listed. This is because satan was Cain’s father, not Adam.]

[ed: The following assortment of biblical verses (and there are even others) show that satan and his children (aka “Kenites” #H7017 from #H7014) were known and scriptures have documented their character and actions against God and his children.

Ezekiel [28:13] “Thou hast been in Eden the Garden of God; every
precious stone was thy covering, the Sardis, topaz, and the diamond, the
beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and thy pipes was
prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.”

[ed: Satan was found in Eden wearing the priestly breastplate with 9 precious stones:
(Ezekiel 28:3) (Exodus 28:18)
Sardis, Sardius,
Topaz, Topaz,
Diamond, Carbuncle ,
Beryl, Emerald,
Onyx, Sapphire,
Jasper, Diamond,
Sapphire, Ligure, (H3958 – perhaps the jacinth)
Emerald, Agate, (H7618 – probably the agate)
Carbuncle Amethyst, (H306 – probably the amethyst)
Beryl,
Onyx,
Jasper

Ezekiel [31:7] “Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his
branches: for his root was by great waters.”

Ezekiel [31:8] “The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir
trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his
branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his
beauty.”

Isaiah  [14:29]   “Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of
him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come
forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.”

I John [3:12] “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his
brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil,
and his brother’s righteous.”

Revelation [20:2] “And He laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent,
which is the Devil, and Satan,”

[ed: This verse shows some of satan’s other names, for he is the serpent of Genesis and throughout the scriptures.]

Psalms [75:6] “For promotion cometh neither from the East, nor from
the West, Nor from the South.”

[ed: Here we see one of many verses referring to satan sitting from the North side.]

I John [3:10] “In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of
the devil: whosoever doth not righteousness is not of God, neither he
that loveth not his brother.”

[ed: Cain did not love his brother Abel, he did not seek righteousness, nor had any regrets for his actions.]

I John [3:11] “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning,
that we should love one another.”

I John [3:12] “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his
brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil,
and his brother’s righteous.”

I John [3:14] “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because
we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”

[ed: The “wicked one” is satan. You are alive spiritually when you love your brothers and sisters, if you do not, you are on the path towards the second death (of your soul).]

I John [3:23] “And this is His commandment, That we should believe on
the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us
commandment.”

[ed: Mathew [13:24-26] documents Jesus’ parable about the “good sower”, and the one who sows “tares”. Jesus would then explain this parable to the disciples in Mathew [13:36-43].

I Chronicles [2:55] “And the familes of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez
[Jerusalem]; The Tirathites, the Shimaethites, and Suchathites. These
are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.”
